FROM the Daily Mail:

This is what the Daily Mail has to say about Smokey the cat, which lives in Northampton:
The sound she produces can reach an incredible 92 decibels – the same as you’d experience watching a Boeing 737 coming in to land. Even from five feet away the level is 80 decibels, the same as a car passing 25ft away.
The first measurement, therefore, must have been recorded right up against the cat. The Mail doesn’t tell us whether the same criteria was rigidly applied to the landing Boeing 737. We can assume it wasn’t.
So is this a fair comparison? No. Is it news? Not in a purrfect world. (Sorry. Couldn’t think of a better pay-off line)
